Could an EU Army Actually Work?

Herbert W. Armstrong warned of this military union for decades. In May 1953, he wrote that “10 powerful European nations will COMBINE their forces.”

In August 1978, he warned:

The Europeans are far more disturbed about their safety in relying on United States military power to protect them than Americans realize! …

Europeans want their own united military power! They know that a political union of Europe would produce a third major world power, as strong as either the U.S. or the USSR—possibly stronger!

But Mr. Armstrong also saw that this unification would not come easily. “The nations of Europe have been striving to become reunited,” he wrote in the January 1979 Plain Truth. “They desire a common currency, a single combined military force, a single united government. They have made a start in the Common Market. They are now working toward a common currency. Yet, on a purely political basis, they have been totally unable to unite.” Mr. Armstrong went on to explain that it would only be through the Vatican, “uniting church and state once again,” as has happened repeatedly in history, that a united Europe will be achieved.

A strong leader will also be an important part of this coming unification. Even in the absence of that leader, however, important progress is being made. A Tale of Two Holy Cities

There is a book that declares exactly what will come of those threats. It predates the Koran by over 2,000 years. In fact, the Koran refers to it as “the Book.” That book has a well-documented reputation of accurate forecasts of the future fate of kingdoms, nations and cities.

That book is the Bible.

Here’s what “the Book” says about the fate of Jerusalem: “Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and HALF OF THE CITY shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city” (Zechariah 14:1-2).

Iran will be instrumental in the prophesied takeover of half of the holy city of Jerusalem. Iran’s ostracism from Mecca and Medina, Islam’s two holiest cities, could prod the radical Islamic nation to make a grab for Islam’s third-holiest city: Jerusalem!

The fall of half of Jerusalem will trigger events that lead to the establishment of the Kingdom of God on Earth, headquartered in Jerusalem!

Jerusalem is prophesied to be the most enduring of all of the world’s holy cities. In the Old Testament, God said, “I have chosen Jerusalem” (2 Chronicles 6:6). In the New Testament, the same God prophesies of “the holy city, new Jerusalem,” “whose builder and maker is God” (Revelation 21:2; Hebrews 11:10).

The Bible foretells that one more resurrection of this empire is ahead of us. And events in Europe are dovetailing with that prophecy very closely! Western Europe, a supposed modern bastion of democracy and secularism, is about to once again become a unified empire led by a strongman and influenced by the Catholic Church!

And what spirit will that leader have? The same spirit embraced by Hitler, by Napoleon, by Charlemagne.

If you want to know what spirit leads the Holy Roman Empire, look to the same source that—as a fact of history—accurately forecasted its six resurrections over a period of many centuries. That source is the Bible, and it says that this ferocious, constantly reviving, beastly, potently religious power is led by “the dragon” (Revelation 13:2-11).

The facts of history show that this has been true time after time after time over the past 1,400 years. Each of these empires has been an unholy union between the Vatican and worldly European rulers and their armies. Each of these empires has spilled rivers of blood in the name of God. Each of these has been afalse religion and a bloody iteration of an evil empire.

The spirit of this empire is the spirit of Satan the devil!

Many people reject the Bible and reject the existence of the devil. But compare what the Bible says to the documented facts of history and ask yourself, Was the Bible right? And if so, could it be right about the existence of the devil? Could it be right that he will lead one more empire to come?

Prove the truth for yourself. And closely watch the spirit of Charlemagne. 

The World’s Greatest Peacemaker?

The Trumpet has forecast for years that the Vatican will play a major role as a worldwide peacemaker. We have said it will be crucial in helping the fractious nations of Europe come together for a brief time as a United States of Europe. And we have also said that the Vatican is going to play a major role in Jerusalem.

“We can expect the Roman Catholic Church to continue to press its way into Middle Eastern affairs. … As both Mr. Armstrong and Mr. Flurry have forecast, we should watch for Europe and the Catholic Church to take an ever more intense interest in the Jerusalem situation,” we wrote in our free booklet He Was Right.

The Catholic Church will use peace negotiations to try to gain control of Jerusalem, a city it has tried to control for hundreds of years. So much of the power we have forecast that the Catholic Church will wield revolves around peacemaking and negotiations. This is exactly the power we see the Catholic Church building right now.

In recent months Iran has taken steps to strengthen its presence in critical areas throughout the Middle East. In Iraq, Syria and Yemen, the Iranians have bolstered their influence and put pressure on neighboring nations. Over the weekend, another flare up took place in Yemen where two missiles were fired from Houthi territory towards a United States patrol boat. As the Middle East continues to destabilize, look for Iran to continue angling for control.
