The Battle for Mystery of the Ages

https://soundcloud.com/trumpetdaily/the-battle-for-mystery-of-the-ages

This year in the United Kingdom, we had a goal to distribute over 2,000 copies of Herbert W. Armstrong’s flagship work, Mystery of the Ages. Why have we put so much emphasis on this book? In the late '90s and early 2000s, the Philadelphia Church of God fought tirelessly to earn the copyright to redistribute this book and many other works of Mr. Armstrong’s, after the Worldwide Church of God said it was their “Christian duty” to keep them out of print. On today’s show, Stephen Flurry gives first hand accounts of that grueling court struggle and explains why we fought so hard to keep Mystery of the Ages in print.

God’s Instructions on Baptism

https://soundcloud.com/live-by-every-word/gods-instructions-on-baptism

Water baptism is required in order to receive salvation. In fact, Christ commanded it and even He was baptized, setting an example that we should follow. Also, there is a proper method that must be followed and there are certain conditions that must be met first in order to be properly baptized. Do you know what that method is and what those conditions are? Tune in to this episode of Live By Every Word hosted by Brian Davis to learn about this most important ordinance.

The events of 2015 have made the world a more dangerous place. The world is drawing closer to all-out war, and many people are still complacent despite all of these alarming trends. On today’s show, Stephen Flurry looks back on the events of the year 2015 and explains the magnificent hope that lies just beyond all of these terrible stories. Also on today’s show, the latest on the Mystery of the Ages goal, and a look back at one year of work in the United Kingdom.

Iran: Top Mideast Threat, Germany: Self-Defense Measures, China: Social Control, and More

https://soundcloud.com/trumpethour/iran-top-mideast-threat-germany-self-defense-measures-china-social-control-and-more

As the months go by since the Iran nuclear deal was struck, evidence continues to mount that Iran is beefing up its military and increasing its sponsorship of terror. Iran remains the top threat in the Middle East.
Reports out of Germany say that sales of self-defense weapons are going through the roof in recent weeks and months-a chilling picture of the climate of crisis in Germany.
China is launching a very invasive program assigning a score to each of its citizens, based not only on the quality of their credit, but also their lawkeeping and their loyalty to the State.
The United States' policy on Syria has completely flip-flopped-after long insisting that Bashar Assad needed to go-it now says, We want whatever Russia wants. It's a stunning picture of the collapse in American foreign policy.

What You Didn’t Know About Christmas

https://www.thetrumpet.com/article/13382.18.0.0/what-you-didnt-know-about-christmas

The Hidden Danger

“For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not …” (Jeremiah 10:3-5).
Does this tradition sound familiar?
Jeremiah wrote his biblical book in the 7th century B.C. The Christmas tree tradition existed for 600 years before Jesus Christ’s human birth!
There is a hideous, alarming danger in keeping Christmas. “Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord; thou art great, and thy name is great in might” (verse 6).
As soon as Jeremiah finished describing the vain practice of erecting a decorated tree in the home, he explained why it is a worthless endeavor: Nothing can take the place of the almighty God. Holidays like Christmas exalt the creation above the Creator. Christmas, in particular, portrays Christ as a helpless baby—not the mighty, powerful Authority that He is today.
“Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? … But the Lord is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens. He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures” (verses 7-13).
Christmas causes its observers to move away from the essential understanding of our great living God! God certainly does not approve of true Christians keeping this day.

Hidden Danger In Keeping Christmas? (2015)

Christmas is celebrated by billions of people around the world. So often in its observance, the theme of family togetherness, Jesus Christ, and goodwill toward men is overshadowed by commercialism, greed, and debt. Where did this holiday come from? It is meant to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, but did you know that its origins go back long before Jesus was born? Traditions like Christmas trees, wreaths of holly, and Santa Claus have roots far more ancient than anything in the New Testament.

Remembering Herbert W. Armstrong - The Trumpet Daily

Just weeks after Herbert W. Armstrong’s death in 1986, Time magazine published a story on the growing popularity of televangelists in the United States: Jimmy Swaggart, Oral Roberts, Jim Bakker, Jerry Falwell.

Time ranked Swaggart’s weekly TV show at the top of its list. His show aired in 197 markets. The others had between 192 and 169 markets. However, all of them were dwarfed by Mr. Armstrong’s program. At that time, the World Tomorrow program could be seen on a total of 382 television stations—almost twice as many as any other religious program in America!

Mr. Armstrong was one of the best-known, most prominent religious leaders of the 20th century. He also had personal meetings with dozens of heads of state and other world leaders. He established a fantastic liberal arts college with three campuses—two in the United States and one in Great Britain.

Mr. Armstrong’s flagship magazine was called the Plain Truth. It focused on current events and the fulfillment of Bible prophecy. It was published in seven languages. In 1985, its worldwide circulation peaked at 8.4 million. That year, Time magazine’s circulation was 5.9 million. At that time, 1 out of every 583 human beings on Earth received the Plain Truth. In the United States, it was 1 in 48. In Canada, it was 1 in 27.

Mr. Armstrong also wrote dozens of books and booklets that were sent to tens of millions of people all over the world. Six million people requested The United States and Britain in Prophecy. Another 3 million people requested his booklet The Seven Laws of Success.

Between 1980 and 1984, the church distributed about 362 million books, booklets, magazines, newspapers, lessons and letters. Then in 1985, the last year of Mr. Armstrong’s life, his church set new records in nearly every category. It answered more than a million phone calls, and it received 6.7 million pieces of mail. It also added 2.1 million new names to its database. It distributed approximately 86 million publications.

Out of all those millions of requests, people were asking for one title more than any other. It was a book that Mr. Armstrong finished just four months before he died, and it was absolutely the greatest book he wrote in his entire 50-year ministry. On today’s program, we remember Herbert W. Armstrong—and we offer you his greatest work, Mystery of the Ages.

If It’s Not in the Bible, Then Why Is Christmas so Popular?

https://soundcloud.com/trumpetdaily/if-its-not-in-the-bible-then-why-is-christmas-so-popular

Where did Christmas come from? Why do people observe it? How and when did it originate? Does it really celebrate the birth of Christ? And what about the many popular traditions associated with Christmas—Santa Claus, the mistletoe, the Yule log, the Christmas tree? Where did these customs come from?
We were born into a world filled with all kinds of traditions and customs. And most people have grown up accepting these traditions without ever stopping to ask why?
The word “Christmas” is nowhere mentioned in the Bible. The original apostles, who were personally instructed by Christ, never celebrated this holiday. History proves that Christmas celebration, as it is observed today, was started in the fourth century A.D.—300 to 400 years after Christ!
What are the true origins of this day? Many people dismiss the need to understand this truth. Even many who do know the origins of Christmas continue to celebrate it because it is—as they say—a harmless tradition, or good time to spend with the family. But what does the Bible say about observing this day?
On today’s program, we ask why. And consider what the Bible says—or doesn’t say—about many of the traditions this world has come to accept without question.

Science Asks: What Did Jesus Really Look Like?

https://www.thetrumpet.com/article/13386.2.0.0/society/science-asks-what-did-jesus-really-look-like

During the Christmas season, images of Jesus Christ seem to be everywhere. But a team of British forensic scientists says these depictions are grossly inaccurate.

Long Hair?

Neave’s team also consulted the New Testament to answer the question of the length of Christ’s hair.
Crucifixes, movies and thousands of paintings portray Jesus Christ with long, flowing hair. But based on his study of Jewish art from Christ’s day and certain New Testament passages, Neave says this too is in error.
Artwork from the first century shows that male Jews of the time never wore their hair long.
Additionally, in his first letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul mentions having seen Jesus Christ. Later Paul says “If a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him” (1 Corinthians 11:14). If Jesus Christ had had long hair, would Paul—who devoted his life to emulating Christ and to teaching all that Christ taught and did—say long hair on a man was a disgrace?
For Neave, this answered the question. He said Jesus would have had short hair, typical of the men of the era.

Do You Realize How Vulnerable America Is to Cyberwarfare?

https://soundcloud.com/trumpetdaily/do-you-realize-how-vulnerable-america-is-to-cyberwarfare

Experts believe foreign hackers could shut down America’s electric grid. The U.S. military is worried that the most expensive weapons system in history and the future of the U.S. Air Force could be brought crashing out of the sky by hackers. Counterfeited microchips—which could enable hackers to disable or subvert infected devices at the touch of a button—are spreading across the world. Anything with a computer chip, from pacemakers to patriot missile batteries, could be at risk. In today’s Trumpet Daily Radio Show, Trumpet writer Richard Palmer explains how this electronic vulnerability really is America’s Achilles heel.

Republican Congress Gives President Obama Everything He Asks For

https://soundcloud.com/trumpetdaily/republican-congress-gives-president-obama-everything-he-asks-for

When the new, supposedly “bipartisan” spending bill was quickly introduced before Congress last week, House leader Paul Ryan said he wasn’t happy about the process, but that the Republicans had “made the best of it.” Meanwhile, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Democrats succeeded in blocking off Republican attempts to advance “their ideological agenda through the budgetary process.” The Democrats are looking at this new budget as a success—they’ve received funding for everything they wanted. How did this happen in a Republican controlled Congress? And what does this indicate for the future of the country? Listen to the latest Trumpet Daily Radio Show to find out what the new spending bill means for America.
