In recent months, several of America’s closest Asian allies have begun “defecting to China.” Unsure about the direction and commitment of the United States, and unable to ignore China’s growing power and its intensifying resolve to use that power, these nations—which have been aligned with the U.S. for decades—are now changing course. The Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand are making a calculated decision to realign themselves with Beijing—or to lay groundwork to be able to do so in the future. This development highlights three prophetically significant trends: The decline of American might, and the rallying together of what the Bible calls the “Kings of the East,” and the rise of China’s power.
