The root cause of the collapse of the Roman Empire, according to historian Edward Gibbon, was its loss of civic virtue and individual morality. Gibbon believed the laws of morality were as constant as the laws of physics. Was he right? Or is it different today? A lot of people believe our society is too modern and sophisticated to collapse under the weight of what God defines as sin. But what if they’re wrong?
