Lying has gone mainstream, especially among politicians who will even lie about their lies. Why is this spirit of deception so strong? Where will it lead our nations if it isn’t fixed? On today’s show, we explain who is behind the spirit of lying and why this force has become more powerful over the last generation.

Trumpet Hour: Syria—Interventions by Turkey, Russia and Iran; the Undiscovered Oceans; and More
https://soundcloud.com/trumpethour/trumpet-hour-syriainterventions-by-turkey-russia-and-iran-the-undiscovered-oceans-and-more
• The war in Syria rages on—and recent developments could be game-changers there. First, Turkey has just sent troops in. This NATO country has one of the world’s most impressive militaries; how much might this affect the balance of power there? Second, Russia just used an Iranian base to launch air strikes in Syria. This highly unusual move shows a level of cooperation between these two countries we haven’t seen before. We’ll try to bring some understanding to these developments and put them in the context of Bible prophecy.
• Then, we’ll explore the wonderful world of the deep sea. Recent discoveries illustrate just how marvelous the depths of Earth’s oceans are—and how little we know about them.
• We’ll conclude the program by talking about a form of love that might not look like love.
False Alarms, True Terror
https://www.thetrumpet.com/article/14166.18.0.0/world/terrorism/false-alarms-true-terror
Why Terrorism?
Long before the United States was established, God foretold many riveting details of the nation’s prosperity through His servant Moses (Genesis 48:13-22; 49:22-26; Leviticus 26:3-10). God also explained specifically how He would punish America if this powerful, blessed nation forgot and disobeyed Him: “… I will even appoint over you terror .… [A]nd ye shall flee when none pursueth you” (Leviticus 26:16-17).
Verse 36 offers more detail: “… the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.”
Does this sound like people stampeding and injuring each other because of harmless sounds of applause or balloons popping?
Through the Prophet Isaiah, God foretold how painfully effective terrorist attacks would be if America didn’t obey Him. He foretold the disproportionate degree of destruction a small number of terrorists would be able to inflict: “One thousand shall flee at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee …” (Isaiah 30:17).
Only 19 terrorists were directly involved in the 9/11 “rebuke,” and only a handful of others have been involved in attacks on American soil since then. Yet an astonishing number of Westerners have been made to “flee” in fear because of those attacks. Reports say the Boston marathon bombing was carried out by just two jihadists, and they turned Boston—a city withmore economic output than Finland—into a ghost town for a day.
Take a look at America’s systems of education, politics, religion, military, industry and entertainment. It’s plain that the nation has rebelled against the God who blessed it with such unprecedented prosperity. As this slide into lawlessness continues, we will increasingly “flee when none pursueth” and descend into mass hysteria at the “sound of a shaken leaf.”
But there is also hope on the horizon. Bible prophecy makes plain that on the other side of the terrorism, fear and curses lies the most radiant future imaginable. Fear and terrorism will be forever vanquished and replaced by a planet of peace, prosperity and a single world religion under the righteous, merciful rulership of the King of kings, Jesus Christ.

In Plain Sight—A World Without America
https://soundcloud.com/trumpetdaily/in-plain-sighta-world-without-america
In 2014, the Trumpet staff put together a series of articles depicting what the world would look like without America. Over two years later, we have some vivid examples that show how disastrous America’s lack of leadership has been for the world. One area that strikingly proves this point is in Syria, where the United States said it would intervene but never did. On today’s show, Stephen Flurry takes a look at Syria and explains how it reveals what life is like in a post-American world.

NYT on Spreading False Stories: It’s Alarming When Putin Does It, Not So Much With Obama
https://soundcloud.com/trumpetdaily/nyt-on-spreading-false-stories-its-alarming-when-putin-does-it-not-so-much-with-obama
This week the New York Times ran an article titled “A Powerful Russian Weapon: The Spread of False Stories.” The author runs through Russia’s tactic of formulating stories and disseminating lies in order to hide the truth and push its agenda. The New York Times was alarmed by what Russia was doing. However, a few months ago, it published a story about how the Obama administration manufactured a false narrative to force the Iran nuclear deal down America’s throat. In the Obama administration’s case, that tactic is viewed as acceptable and even innovative! Propaganda is becoming the norm in Western journalism. Where is this dangerous trend leading? Listen to today’s Trumpet Daily Radio Show to find out.

The Wonderful World Tomorrow—Here Today! - The Trumpet Daily
A small taste of the peace and happiness the whole world will soon experience
When Jesus Christ came in the flesh 2,000 years ago, He started to build a world that is entirely different from the present evil world we now live in. Jesus came to this Earth to start a brand new civilization. He came to start God’s world! It all started incredibly small—like the grain of a mustard seed. But soon, what Christ established and built in His one true Church will soon spread over all the Earth, into every nation.
On this episode of the Trumpet Daily, we show where the fruits of this lifestyle can already be seen and explain more about what this wonderful world will be like and how it will come about.

Fatherlessness is one of the greatest crises facing the United States today. It is responsible for a host of problems from criminal behavior to poverty. Fatherlessness is weakening the nation. On today’s show, we examine the reverse of this trend—how strong fathers, who play the central role in their families, are the key to developing a strong nation.

• French troops are reportedly moving into Yemen, helping Saudi Arabia in its war against Iranian-backed forces. The European Union has also signed a deal to train the navy in Libya. These moves are happening even as leaders in Germany, France, Italy and elsewhere are increasing their calls for a unified EU army.
• More revelations have emerged of America’s deal with Iran—reports that President Obama ordered American forces not to back the 2009 Green Revolution—because he wanted to deal with the ayatollah.
• Turkey is sending troops into the quagmire in Syria, adding to troops from Russia, Iran, the Islamic State, Kurds and others—and it’s only getting more complicated.
• We’ll also talk about the new dictators’ club—signs of the dictatorship in North Korea being undermined—Americans giving up on belief in God—a killer earthquake in Italy—and a new trend in marriage: people marrying themselves.
How Secure Is Your Outpost?
https://www.pcog.org/articles/2875/how-secure-is-your-outpost
Paul called true Christians good soldiers for Christ. Are you? Or is Satan ready to take you captive?
Paul called true Christians good soldiers for Christ. Are you? Or is Satan ready to take you captive?
God conscripted His chosen people in both the Old and New Testaments to be soldiers in His army. “And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years—on that very same day—it came to pass that all the armies of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt,” wrote Moses (Exodus 12:41; New King James Version). God took the nation of Israel, a ragtag bunch of dirty, faithless, weak-willed, whining slaves, and made it His army.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith,” the Apostle Paul wrote his beloved son-in-the-faith, Timothy (2 Timothy 4:7). Paul recognized that the Christian life is a fight—at times full of exhausting battles. He expected all Church members to follow his example (1 Corinthians 11:1). No matter how hard the battle gets, we must never, never, never, nevergive in. “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ,” he admonished Timothy (2 Timothy 2:3).
Our Military Commission
God commissioned ancient Israel, as soldiers, to take back and cleanse the land promised to our founding father Abraham. Demon-inspired, idolatrous people—who cared little to know or understand the true God—squatted on that good ground and defiled God’s chosen land with their immoral lives and pagan practices. God had given those Gentiles an opportunity to observe His way of life and embrace it. Centuries before Israel’s exodus from Egypt, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob had walked among them and had shown them God’s ways. Yet they wanted no part of it.
God’s New Testament Church’s commission is the same, only spiritual and universal in scope. God wants us to take back the entire Earth from Satan and his evil demons and cleanse it for 1,000 years—all in preparation to renew and rule the universe under Jesus Christ. That is great news. But we are not there yet. We are in a fight, individually and collectively—it’s the most colossal battle in history. Do we have the passion to win this war?
Keep Your Outpost Safe
It takes deep thought to view living the Christian life in military terms. Truthfully, it is the only way to make the Christian way of life work. Notice, Jesus Christ used military terms to describe His own life on Earth. “I have told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In this world you will have troubles. But be brave! I have defeated the world,” He told the disciples just before His crucifixion (John 16:33; Easy-to-Read Version). Jesus Christ succeeded in living God’s way of life to the very end. If we do not follow Christ’s sterling example, we will suffer tragic defeat.
When I first came into God’s Church in 1975, I did not understand the concept of being a good soldier for Jesus Christ. I had been raised as a Roman Catholic. For 18 years of my life, I was taught that because I was Catholic, I had it made. I didn’t have to overcome sin—just make it to confession before I die. It has been hard to get that satanic thinking out of my mind. Real conversion is a difficult endeavor; it is a raging war at times. To become truly converted requires the heart and discipline of a battle-hardened soldier.
I remember hearing God’s ministers compare regional offices to outposts, which is a military term. “Will you pray earnestly that God will stop the hand of Satan and his persecutors in that area?” one writer pleaded in the Good News. “Will you ask God’s blessing and guidance for … the men and women who are assisting … in this ‘outpost’ of God’s Work?” (May 1960). It was not until I came into the Philadelphia Church of God (pcg) that I began to understand what that term really meant. Because of the massive Laodicean defection from God, those few who remained loyal to Christ had to work feverishly to establish new outposts for God’s Work around the Earth. This involved more than just establishing regional offices—it also meant building solid field congregations.
Do you realize that every pcg congregation, whether big or small, is one of Christ’s outposts? And if you are one of God’s scattered sons—“one from a city” or even a nation—you are an outpost for Christ.
Be assured, Satan hates each outpost and you! We cannot afford to be naive: Satan wants to shut down your outpost—literally wipe it off the map. Are you doing everything to keep your outpost safe from vicious attack?
A Bright Light in Diplomatic History
https://www.thetrumpet.com/article/14154.18.0.0/middle-east/egypt/a-bright-light-in-diplomatic-history
Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry, who follows in the footsteps of Mr. Armstrong, delved further into the importance of this location in his booklet The Way of Peace Restored Momentarily. If you are inspired by Sadat’s and Begin’s brave moves toward peace in the Middle East, it is a must read. It describes the significance of Egypt and Israel’s historic peace pact and why the proposed World Peace Center was so important.
As diplomacy in the Middle East looks increasingly bleak, we can look back to this example of communication and cooperation. Mr. Armstrong described as “a factual story, stranger and more exciting than any fiction.” And yet, in many ways, it is the prelude to a different, and lasting, world peace.

Enabling the King of the South—Why Barack Obama Never Wanted Regime Change in Iran
https://soundcloud.com/trumpetdaily/enabling-the-king-of-the-southwhy-barack-obama-never-wanted-regime-change-in-iran
In 2009, hundreds of thousands of Iranians protested against their nation’s government over a rigged presidential election. It was a golden opportunity for the newly elected President Barack Obama to denounce the anti-American leadership in Iran and promote a regime change. However, President Obama didn’t just ignore the crisis in Iran, he trusted the government of Iran to handle it and told members of his administration to stop backing leaders of the protests. Why didn’t the president intervene in Iran, like he did years later in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya? Find out on today’s Trumpet Daily Radio Show.

The January 16 Warning, Plus One Forgotten Characteristic of a Loving God
https://soundcloud.com/trumpetdaily/the-january-16-warning-plus-one-forgotten-characteristic-of-a-loving-god
This week, the United States State Department issued a travel advisory for Americans traveling to Iran, warning that Americans could potentially become hostages. Why would a radical Islamist regime like Iran take American hostages? The U.S., after all, doesn’t pay ransom for hostages. Or does it? This and much more on today’s show.

The Times of the Gentiles and the Father’s Indispensable Role in the Home
https://soundcloud.com/trumpetdaily/the-times-of-the-gentiles-and-the-fathers-indispensable-role-in-the-home
America’s enemies are looking beyond their differences and uniting in an effort to humiliate and diminish the United States. Russia, China and Iran, countries that have not gotten along historically, are beginning to work closer together. Bret Stephens wrote about these budding alliances in an article titled “The New Dictators’ Club.” On today’s show, Stephen Flurry discusses how this is leading to a time period in Bible prophecy known as the “times of the gentiles.”
Also on today’s show, the critical role fathers play in the home and how it can strengthen a nation.
Russia and Iran: The Middle East ‘Axis of Evil'
https://www.thetrumpet.com/article/14144.2.0.0/religion/islam/russia-and-iran-the-middle-east-axis-of-evil
Time and again, Russia has outmaneuvered America in and around Syria. The historic agreement between Iran and Russia shows that this outfoxing is spreading across the broader Middle East.
How long will it be before the Russo-Iranian axis squeezes America out entirely? Russian weapons are defeating U.S. allies in Syria. Iranian militias are doing a great deal of the fighting in Iraq. Hezbollah still controls southern Lebanon. Tehran is empowered by the disastrous P5+1 nuclear deal and is also armed with Russian weaponry. Now we see Russian bombers stationed in Iran.
On top of this, China—another enemy of the West—has recently become involved in Syria, seeking closer military ties with the Assad regime!
What is happening to American influence in the region? It is shattered.
In Leviticus 26:19, God warns America that disobedience has one outcome: “I will break the pride of your power.” America, the most powerful nation on Earth, is currently being broken in the Middle East.
God also promises that America’s “strength shall be spent in vain.” Isn’t U.S. prestige in the Middle East the very epitome of that statement? Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq showed the incredible power of the U.S. military. But what has it achieved? Enemies of the West now exert their influence over these regions and vie for control of lands where coalition forces once spent trillions of dollars and decades of fighting. Hundreds of lives were sacrificed along the way.
There is coming a time when “[t]hey have blown the trumpet, even to make all ready; but none goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof” (Ezekiel 7:14).
America won’t go to war. It will be defunct, defeated. A terrible end to a once great nation.
Can It Be Avoided?
But must we experience these terrible times ourselves? Are you and I destined to suffer through the traumatic days prophesied in Ezekiel, Daniel and elsewhere in your Bible?
The hope-filled and inspiring answer is a resounding “No!”
Remember, God is bringing these terrible times on the world to wake up mankind! Man refuses to listen to his Creator. Nations that once founded their constitutions on God’s law now scoff at His warnings. It is little wonder God must forcibly awaken our nations, even if it means empowering others like Russia and Iran.
But you are reading this article. You are listening today. God does offer safety from these calamities ahead. He promises safety that no Russian or American power can provide. But it takes effort on our part; it takes action.
